Planned gifts directed to the Akron Civic Theatre Legacy Fund strengthen an endowment that protects our community's investment in the theater.
Including the Akron Civic Theatre in your planned giving or estate plans is one of the most enduring ways you can support “The Jewel on Main Street.” Your planned gift helps preserve this iconic landmark for generations to come.
Through your thoughtful planning, you are leaving your own indelible mark on our community’s gathering place. Your family and countless others will continue to enjoy the history and grandeur of the theater and make new, cherished “Main Street memories.”
Your planned gift protects the community's significant investments in our organization.
Once work on our current capital project is complete, the theater must maintain all of its physical assets. Your planned gift, joined with others, provides a foundational source of revenue to protect the investment for decades to come.
Planned giving allows you to make an impactful gift.
If your monthly budget doesn’t allow you to make a major gift, planned giving opens the door by letting you bequeath a designated dollar amount or a percentage of your estate’s assets.
Planned giving may offer tax advantages.
Because the Civic is a nonprofit, your planned charitable gift may provide certain tax advantages. Consult your tax planner for details.
Planned giving is empowering.
It is a powerful way to make a lasting mark in the community by aligning your interests with an organization whose mission reflects your own values.
Planned giving is easy.
Making a planned gift is as easy as expressing your intentions to your estate planning advisor and confirming your intentions in writing.
Bequests & Estate Planned Gifts:
Simply include a provision in your will or trust or name the Akron Civic Theatre as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. The amount left to the theater can be expressed as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the assets to be given.
Gifts of Stocks, Bonds or Mutual Funds:
Your gift of appreciated securities may offer significant tax benefits. Gifts are easy to make by working with your financial advisor and our organization.
Gifts of Life Insurance:
These allow you a future tax deduction, do not impact your immediate resources and ensure support for the theater in the form of a legacy gift.
Retirement Plans:
Name the Akron Civic Theatre as the beneficiary of your 401K, pension or other retirement plan.
Charitable Gift Annuities (CGA):
These popular forms of planned giving offer tax advantages as well as life income for the donor or a named income beneficiary. A CGA is a contract between the investor and issuing charity, in which the investor makes an irrevocable gift to the charity, and, in return, the charity pays the investor a fixed income for life. Upon the death of the investor, the amount remaining (residuum) goes to the charity.
Gifts of Real Property:
Donating marketable real estate such as a personal residence or vacation home, commercial property or even vacant land can be a creative way to make a significant gift to the theater while receiving important tax benefits and even income.
Your planned gift will be recognized under the Legacy Fund banner in publications such as our season program and annual report.
Legacy Fund donors enjoy invitations to special events at the Civic and receive communications about significant developments at the theater.
Planned gifts of $5,000 or more will be recognized on our outdoor “Staging the Future” donor wall.
Naming rights opportunities are available for gifts beginning at $25,000. A Civic representative will work with you to identify the right placement and the appropriate memorial signage.
Please let us know if you prefer to make your gift anonymously.
It’s easy! You can either make a direct contribution to the Akron Civic Theatre Legacy Fund right now or make arrangements to include the Civic in your estate plans.
