(In)Dependent: The Heroin Project is a powerful and deeply human new play by Emelia Sherin and Zach Manthy exploring addiction, recovery, loss, and the search for connection.

The story follows Ryan and Emily, two individuals navigating heroin addiction who meet in group therapy, while also weaving together the voices and experiences of others impacted by addiction. Through honesty, compassion, and unflinching storytelling, the play examines the realities of substance use disorder and the humanity behind the headlines.

Developed with support from MTP during its early stages, (In)Dependent: The Heroin Project received national attention for its timely and compassionate storytelling, including recognition in The New York Times.
